Garanti BBVA launches 100% online onboarding fast, frictionless, and future ready for new individual clients, enabling instant access to products and services in the bank’s Mobile Banking app

Bucharest, May 5 – Garanti BBVA now offers new individual clients a fully end-to-end digital onboarding and lending experience, enabling them to open a current account package with debit card included and access lending products 100% online, directly from their mobile device, 24/7, from the comfort of their home, or wherever they are.

The onboarding process is fast, secure, and reliable, based on biometric identity validation (selfie, liveness and facial recognition), document scanning via OCR (Optical Character Recognition), email address and phone number verification, qualified electronic signature and electronic archiving, all in line with the bank’s commitment to sustainability.

The digital flow is built around customer needs—whether they simply want a current account package with debit card included, personal loan or credit card, the process is integrated and immediate.

This launch is part of Garanti BBVA Romania’ broader digital transformation strategy, aiming to create a frictionless, mobile-first banking experience, that empowers clients to take control of their financial journey, without ever stepping into a branch.

We are not just digitalizing processes or products and services, we are reimagining banking. This is what the future banking looks like: fast, personal, and fully online. We have built a digital experience that is intelligent, secure, and customer oriented. No paperwork, no branch visits, no waiting. Just a few taps and you are in to a solution which is tailored to modern lifestyles. Whether customers are looking for a current account, a debit card, a credit card or a personal loan, they can get everything in one smooth flow, from the comfort of their home. At Garanti BBVA, we design digital experiences around real-life customer needs—quickly, easily, and securely, while maintaining a human connection”, said Tolga Banyocu, Deputy General Manager, Customer Solutions Area, Garanti BBVA.

New customers with current accounts set up online will automatically receive a complete RON account package with debit card, which includes Mobile Banking, SMS alerts, free RON transfers, and no fees for cash withdrawals at any ATM worldwide.

As part of the onboarding offer, the customer will also receive a 100 RON welcome bonus after completing the first transaction (POS payment, or online transaction) of at least 50 RON. Also, new customers can apply for a Bonus Card with an instant credit decision—meaning they find out on the spot if they qualify—and receive a 200 RON welcome bonus in bonus points, valid for three months. Customers can choose the type of card (Standard, Gold or Platinum) that best suits their lifestyle and the benefits they want to access.

This offer is valid until June 30, 2025, for those who complete the online onboarding process, provide valid contact details, and meet the Bank’s eligibility criteria.

In addition, Garanti BBVA offers a wide range of promotions and dedicated offers, from cards that give you the chance to win a holiday in Turkey, to attractive bonuses for eDepozit, prize lotteries, and much more. More information can be reached here.

The bank emphasizes that online lending is already available for existing customers, offering fast and convenient access to personal loans and Bonus Card applications directly through the Mobile Banking app—a functionality first introduced in 2024, as part of Garanti BBVA’s broader digitalization efforts.
