Ufuk Tandoğan – CEO Garanti BBVA Romania, received the award for „Excellence in Banking Leadership”, during the Gala “Brand Excellence Hall of Fame Awards 2021”, organized by Business Arena magazine in May 2021. This distinction represents a recognition of his remarkable career, of over 30 years, in the financial-banking sector.

Within the Gala “Brand Excellence Hall of Fame Awards 2021” organized in May 2021 by Business Arena magazine, Garanti BBVA was granted the award for „Brand Excellence in Banking”, for consistent and relevant brand communication through these challenging times, due to the coronavirus pandemic, when it was proved that brands are more relevant than ever for their communities. Garanti BBVA continued being vocal with what it believes in, staying true to its commitment to put the consumer first and keep the level of customer service at the highest level.

During the 13th edition of the Online Banking Gala, organized by Finmedia press group, in April 2021, Garanti BBVA received 3 awards, within the category dedicated to the best performance in mobile banking:

– “The largest increase in the value of transactions in mobile banking – legal entities, in 2020”

– “The highest total number of transactions and number of transactions performed by individuals, in 2020”

– “The largest increase in the total number of customers of the mobile banking service – legal entities in 2020”

Garanti BBVA received the “eGrowth” award, for the excellent results registered in 2020 by our digital channels. This distinction was granted to us within the annual e-Finance Awarding Gala, organized by the reputable Finmedia press Group, in February 2021.

This award was granted to Garanti BBVA in December 2020, within the “Piata Financiara” Magazine’s Awards Gala.

Ufuk Tandoğan – CEO Garanti BBVA Romania received the special award for “The Trust in Romania” from the editorial team of Business Magazin, within the Gala “CEO Awards 2020”.

Garanti BBVA received this award in September 2020, within the “Financial Leaders Hall of Fame Gala”, organized by Business Arena magazine. With the highest level of net profit among its peers in 2019 and in H1 2020, Garanti BBVA displays a sound set of results as well as a leading strategy of investment in technology, innovation and focus on customer service.

During the competition “2020 World’s Best Consumer Digital Banks Awards in Central & Eastern Europe”, organized by the reputable Global Finance magazine, Garanti BBVA received once again the award for “Best Consumer Digital Bank in Romania”.

During the “Most Admired Business Women Awards Gala” organized by Business Arena magazine, Luminita Cioaca – Deputy General Manager Garanti BBVA Romania, received the prize for “Leading Executive in Banking”.

During the 13th edition of the Top Bankers Gala, organized by Finmedia press group, in July 2020, Garanti BBVA received 2 awards:

– “Optimal ratio of loans / deposits”, within the category of “medium banks”;

– “Optimal solvency rate”, within the category of “medium banks”.

During the 12th edition of the Online Banking Gala, organized by Finmedia press group, in June 2020, Garanti BBVA received 2 awards:

“Best Performance in Internet Banking”, for the largest number of customers;

“Best Performance in Mobile Banking”, for the most important percentage increase in the category of legal entities (total clients, total transactions, total authentications and transaction value).

Garanti BBVA received this ward for achieving a high level of recognition and admiration in the industry for its commitment to create strong brand awareness through customer-oriented strategies. The award was granted within the Gala “Brand Excellence Hall of Fame Awards 2020” organized by Business Arena magazine in June 2020.

Garanti BBVA received from CSRmedia.ro the Mention Award for WWF Bonus Card – environment category, within the Romanian CSR Awards competition in June 2020.

For the second time in a row, Garanti BBVA has been validated as a Superbrand in Romania and recognized as a powerful leading brand within the 9th edition of Romania’s Superbrands Programme for 2019.

This acknowledgement took place during Superbrands Romania Gala Tribute event, in February 2020.

Within the annual e-Finance Awarding Gala, organized by the Finmedia press Group in February 2020, Garanti BBVA received the “eGrowth” prize, for the Mobile Banking application, which in 2019 had the largest increase in number of transactions, compared to the portfolio’s growth.

During the “2019 World’s Best Consumer Digital Banks Awards in Central & Eastern Europe”, organized by the reputable Global Finance magazine, Garanti Bank Romania received once again the award “Best Consumer Digital Bank in Romania”.

Winners were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing. The editors of Global Finance were responsible for the final selection of all winners.

Winning banks were selected based on the following criteria: strength of strategy for attracting and servicing digital customers, success in getting clients to use digital offerings, growth of digital customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives, and web/mobile site design and functionality.

Mr. Ufuk Tandoğan – CEO Garanti BBVA, was awarded as “Banker of the Year”, during the “Awards for Excellence Gala”, organized by Business Arena magazine in November 2019.

As the jury has stated, this prestigious distinction comes as a recognition of Mr. Tandoğan’s outstanding leadership abilities, as reflected in Garanti BBVA’s achievements on the Romanian market.

Garanti BBVA was declared, in August 2019, “The best international bank in Romania in 2019” by the British magazine Finance Central Europe. The magazine annually ranks the best banks in the countries of Southeastern Europe, taking into account the performance on five criteria: strong asset-base, good quality capital, profit before taxes, rate of return on assets, and rate of return on equity.

Within the 12th edition of the “Top Bankers” Gala, organized by Finmedia press group in June 2019, Garanti BBVA was awarded for three times.

The awards for “Optimum loans/deposits ratio”, “Best new loans/number of employees ratio” and “Best deposits/number of employees ratio” – granted within the category “medium-sized banks”, represent a confirmation of the efficiency of Garanti BBVA team’s activity, focused on satisfying the clients’ needs.

Garanti BBVA was declared winner in the “e-banking” category, within the annual e-Finance Awarding Gala, organized by Finmedia press Group, organized in January 2019.

This award was granted to us for the relaunch of our internet banking platform – Garanti BBVA Online, on the 20th anniversary of our presence on the Romanian market.

The jury has appreciated that our new platform has an intuitive interface and an easier-to-use menu, that simplifies the steps a user has to go through for performing the needed operations. In addition, all menus have a uniform, optimized design, which brings to the forefront a modern, digital-oriented banking.

Within “Piata Financiara” magazine’s Gala, which took place in December 2018, Garanti BBVA received the Award for “Retail Bank of the Year”. In a highly competitive industry, Garanti BBVA has succeeded to make itself noticed through delivering quality services and products and building a special, trust-based relationship with its customers.

Garanti BBVA received the “Excellence in Banking” Award within the Excellence Gala organized by Business Arena magazine in November 2018.

During the “Financial Leaders’ Hall of Fame” Gala, organized by Business Arena magazine in October 2018, Garanti BBVA received the award for “Best Banking Strategy”.

Garanti BBVA, one of the most dynamic and innovative banks on the local market, was awarded by the worldwide-recognized Global Finance magazine as “Best Consumer Digital Bank in Romania”. The distinction was granted within the “The World’s Best Consumer Digital Banks In Central & Eastern Europe 2018 Competition”.

Within the 11th edition of the “Top Bankers” Gala, organized by Finmedia press group, Garanti BBVA was awarded for three times: for “Best Loan Volume/Employee Ratio”, “Best Dynamics of the Assets” and “Best Dynamics of Savings”.

During the 10th edition of the Online Banking Gala, hosted by Finmedia Press Group, in April 2018, Garanti BBVA received two awards.

The first one was a recognition of all our efforts and our human-centric approach, for which we were given the “Best Internet Banking Customer Experience” trophy and “Best Performance” for our Garanti BBVA Mobile application, which had the largest increase in number of users, individuals.

In March 2018, during the 3rd edition of the Annual Gala of the Romanian Association of Credit Brokers (ARBC), Garanti BBVA received the award for „The Best Mortgage Loan”.

Mr. Ufuk Tandogan – Garanti BBVA’s CEO, was declared “Banker of the Year” , during the “Nine O’Clock 27 Years” Awards Gala, organized by the well-known publication Nine O’Clock.

The award granted by the jury comes as a recognition of the fact that Mr. Tandogan has successfully contributed to consolidate the financial institution’s position on the market in 2017, as a dynamic, solid, and profitable bank, by developing and implementing a sound strategy and an efficient business activity. Thus, the bank achieved the best results in the last 20 years, since it started operations in Romania, proving to be a trusted financial partner for its clients and local economy. Mr. Tandogan has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities, achieving the recognition of the local business community.

Garanti BBVA, one of the most dynamic banks on the local market, has been selected and validated as a Superbrad. This recognition comes in the year that marks the banks’ 20th anniversary on the local market. The acknowledgement took place during Superbrands Romania Gala Tribute event, in February 2018.

Garanti BBVA was awarded in July 2017, by the world-renowned magazine Global Finance as “Best Consumer Digital Bank” in Romania. The distinction was granted within the “2017 World’s Best Consumer Digital Banks in Central and Eastern Europe Competition”. Garanti BBVA is the only bank in Romania to receive such an award.

During Piata Financiara Magazine Awarding Gala, organized by the reputable press group Finmedia, in December 2017, Garanti BBVA was awarded for the “Best Business Strategy Implementation”.

Garanti BBVA has grown organically year after year, ever since it started its activity on the Romanian market, in 1998. The Bank’s strategy to grow healthy, diversify its product portfolio and keep pace with customer needs, led in 2017 to an increase in total assets, a decrease in non-performing loans below the market average, and the highest profitability in recent years, proving to be a trusted financial partner for its clients and for the local economy.

During the “Financial Leaders Hall of Fame” Gala, organized by the magazine Business Arena, in October 2017, Garanti BBVA was awarded as “Bank of the Year”. This annual Gala recognizes the achievements and successes of banks, financial institutions and business leaders that have found the winning strategies in a challenging business environment. We are always trying to improve the products and services offered to our clients, to support them and to ensure them the best banking experience. We do so by constantly paying attention to their needs.

Garanti BBVA received the award for “Lending Dynamics”, within the “Top Bankers Gala” organized by Finmedia press group, in July 2017. It was an honor for us to be granted this prize, as a recognition of Garanti BBVA team’s efforts to win the trust of our clients in our lending products. The award shows us that we have competitive offers and that we have to continue to maintain our advantages on the local market.

During the Annual Gala of the Romanian Association of Credit Brokers, organized in March 2017, Garanti BBVA received the award for “The Best Mortgage Loan”.

During the eFinance Awarding Gala, organized by Finmedia press Group in January 2017, Garanti BBVA was awarded within the category “e-mobile banking”, for launching the mobile banking application, Garanti BBVA Mobile, in 2016.

Garanti BBVA Mobile is the bank’s mobile application available both on iOS and Android. It ensures users a quick and efficient personal finances management. The application allows clients to manage their account 24/7, see the history of their transactions, anytime/anywhere, make transfers, pay bills perform foreign exchanges, etc.

During “Piata Financiara Magazine’s Annual Awards Gala”, in December 2016, Garanti BBVA received 2 new awards:

During the 7th anniversary Gala organized by Viitor Plus Association, Garanti BBVA was awarded as “Constant Client”, for the support offered in the programs “Recicleta” and “Atelierul de Panza”.

During the “Financial Leaders’ Hall of Fame 2016” Gala organized by the well-known publication Business Arena in November, Mr. Ufuk Tandogan, Garanti BBVA Romania’s CEO, was awarded “Banker of the Year”. Within the 17th edition of the “World’s Best Digital Banks Awards” competition, organized by the reputable Global Finance magazine, Garanti BBVA was awarded, for the forth consecutive year. The jury granted us the prizes for the “Best Consumer Digital Bank in Romania”.

The winners were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing and Global Finance editors were responsible for the final selection.

During the “Excellence in Management” Gala organized by Capital newspaper, Cagri Memisoglu – Deputy General Manager Garanti BBVA, received the 2nd prize, for the category “Best Development Manager”.

During the first edition of the Annual Gala of the Romanian Association of Credit Brokers, Garanti BBVA received the award for “The Best Mortgage Loan”. During the evening were awarded the innovation, achievements and activity of the financial and banking institutions, which contributed in 2015 to the development and strengthening of the partnerships and to the increase of the financial services quality.

During the e-Finance Awarding Gala 2016, organized by Finmedia, Garanti BBVA received the award for “e-network”. The motivation of the jury of e-Finance for granting this distinction to Garanti BBVA comes as a recognition of the fact that Garanti BBVA is the only bank which in a 5 years period (2010 – 2015) has succeeded to double its ATMs number, representing the only netwotk fully having smart ATMs – Garanti BBVA ATM.

The motivation of the jury of Business Arena for granting the prize to Garanti BBVA comes as a recognition of our “outstanding strategic thinking focused on activity streamlining and innovation in a highly competitive sector”.

During “Piata Financiara Magazine Awarding Gala” Garanti BBVA received the prize for “Most Trusted Bank”.

During the “Financial Leaders’ Hall of Fame 2015” Gala, organized by the reputable publication Business Arena, Garanti BBVA received the award for “Best Banking Strategy”.

During “Forbes 100 Cool Brands” Gala, Garanti BBVA received the award for “Best Online Banking”. Since we are experiencing an on-growing digitization process of the banking system, we have focused on bringing on the market new products and services that fit new demands on the market.

Finmedia and Piata Financiara kept the tradition of organizing each year the “Top Bankers Gala”, designed to reward the companies from the banking sector, fort he results of the previous years. During the 8th edition, Garanti BBVA received 2 awards:

Within the Oskar Gala ” Premiile Capital 2015″, organized by the prestigious magazine Capital, which took place on 27th of May, Garanti BBVA Group was nominated to “The best financial institution” category and designated as winner, out of ten distinguished financial organizations, being laureate with the second prize.

During the “2015 World’s Best Internet Banks Competition”, organized by Global Finance magazine, Garanti BBVA was awarded, for the third consecutive year. This time, the jury granted us the prizes for the “Best Consumer Digital Bank in Romania” and for the “Best Integrated Consumer Bank Site in Central & Eastern Europe”. During the 7th edition of the Online Banking Awarding Gala, organized by Finmedia, our internet Banking service – Garanti BBVA Online, was awarded for “The highest increase rate of the average value traded by legal entities in 2014”.

The evaluation was carried out by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing and Global Finance editorial team based on a criteria including the strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, web site design and functionality.

During the 6th Edition of the Online Banking Gala organized by Finmedia, our internet banking service – Garanti BBVA Online, was awarded for “The largest share of retail customers of all bank customers, and the first national internet banking service that is pre-approving loan applications in real time” (iLoanU).

The motivation of the jury of Business Arena for granting the “Banker of the Year” Award comes as a recognition of Mr. Tandogan’s “outstanding leadership abilities, as reflected in both short and long-term achievements”.

During the Gala “Persons of the Year 2013” organized by Nine O’Clock publication, Garanti BBVA was awarded as “Bank of the Year 2013”, for the most dynamic and innovative bank, for the most effective development and successful financing projects in 2013.

During Piata Financiara’s Awarding Gala, Garanti BBVA received the award for “The Most Innovative Bank of the Year”. This award represents a recognition of the fact that Garanti BBVA is perceived as one of the most dynamic and innovative banks in the local market, always one step ahead when it comes to anticipating the customers’ needs. As we are always placing at the center of our activity the clients’ comfort, the services, products and solutions that we are offering are being created according to their needs. Thus, we launched some of the most innovative financial products in the local market, such as SEQR payment solution and iLoanU – the loan application platform.

During the 2013 Financial Leaders` Hall of Fame Gala, organized by Business Arena publication, Garanti BBVA received the award “Bank of the Year for the products and services dedicated to the SME customers”. This award is very important as it represents a recognition of all our efforts to support entrepreneurs and SMEs, which we consider real partners, and their success is our success.

The two distinctions were granted within the “2013 World`s Best Internet Banks Competition”. During the 6th edition of the Top Bankers Gala organized by Finmedia, Garanti BBVA received two awards for 2012 activity: “For the best dynamics on the lending part” and “For the best dynamics of the capital during the crisis”.

During the 5th Edition of the Online Banking Gala organized by Finmedia, our internet banking service -Garanti BBVA Online, was awarded “For the highest increase of the global number of transactions in 2012 (42%) and for the most constant increase of the transaction values in 2012 (over 50% both for individuals and legal entities)”.

During the event “Persons of the Year 2012′ Awards” organized by Nine O’Clock magazine, Garanti BBVA’s smart ATMs received a special award for “The complexity of the transactions performed by the clients and non-clients, both with card and without card”.

During the 17th edition of the “Piata Financiara Awarding Gala”, organized by Piata Financiara Magazine, Garanti BBVA was awarded as the “Best Retail Bank of the Year”.

During the 12th edition of the “Gala Financial Leaders’ Hall of Fame Awards 2012”, organized by Business Arena Magazine, Garanti BBVA was awarded for the “Best Banking Strategy”.

This award comes at the end of a very hard working year and we are proud to be amongst the banks that have succeeded in continuing their growth this year, despite the challenging economic environment.

Garanti BBVA is well recognized in the market for its innovative and dynamic approach, two main elements that differentiate it in the current economic environment.

Garanti BBVA awarded in July 2012 a prestigious prize, for “The most dynamic systemic growth of assets and own funds: Best Bank”.

This prize, awarded by Finmedia, a flagship business media group in Romania, recognised the business performance of Garanti BBVA in the local market.

The internet banking service Garanti BBVA Online was awarded “The Best Bill Payment & Presentmen in Central and Eastern Europe”, within the annual award ceremony organized by the renowned magazine Global Finance. The distinction was granted based on a complex analysis carried out by the editorial team of Global Finance magazine and was based on the strength and success strategy of the web products and services.

The excellent results obtained by Garanti BBVA in 2010 were appreciated at the highest level within “Top Bankers” Gala organized on July 2011, by Finmedia. Garanti BBVA was awarded as “The most dynamic bank, with the most spectacular rise in the top of banks in 2010”. The distinction took into account the significant growths registered by the bank for the most important financial indicators: 73% increase in assets, loans higher by more than 45%, doubled deposits.

No-Cash Gala Award, organized for the 10th year in a row, designated Garanti BBVA as the winner of the “The best promotion” category, for the campaigns carried out for Bonus Card credit card. These campaigns have ensured significant growths for the bank in 2010 vs 2009: 52% increase in cards portfolio, 62% more active cards and 230% increase in number of transactions. This award was given based on the votes of jury formed of 32 representatives of other banks, payment and cards processors, technology providers etc.

CrediMed product was appreciated as the “Best banking product of the year for physicians” within the Gala organized by “Colegiul Medicilor in Romania” on June 6th 2011. This award was granted based on public nominations and votes from the medical community.

Within the 8th edition of e-Finance Gala Awards, organized on March 2011, Garanti BBVA was awarded within “e-Payments” category for the real-time payment system developed at the end of 2010. This system has been implemented on the ATMs within Garanti BBVA network and Vodafone shops and allows the following instant transactions: invoice payment and top-up for Vodafone. Another benefit of this payment system, unique on the Romanian market, is its extended accessibility, being used by anyone, either a Garanti BBVA customer or not and irrespective of the chosen payment method: with any debit card or with cash.

During the “CSR Romanian Awards 2017” Gala, organized in April 2017, Garanti BBVA received the awards for “Social Responsability” at the category “Environment”. This distinction was granted to us for the projects undertaken through WWF Bonus Card, the first eco affinity card in Romania, issued in 2010 in partnership with Worldwide Fund for Nature Romania (WWF). WWF’s work focuses on areas and species considered of critical importance for nature conservation but also for the welfare of people and local communities. Through WWF Bonus Card, the bank redirects 0.3% from the value of the transactions carried out by the cardholders to WWF’s local environmental projects.
