Mobile banking security information
Sometimes the Internet is just like a real world where there is both good and bad. Just to make sure you’re safe, away from the bad side of the Internet, we invite you to read some very important security rules. There’s nothing more important to us than your security when it comes to online shopping, transactions and payments. That’s why we’ve created a few tips and rules for safe use of the Internet Banking Garanti BBVA Online application.
1. Make sure emails are received from trusted sources
Garanti BBVA NEVER asks you questions about your personal information, password, etc. via email. If you ever receive an e-mail with questions about Garanti BBVA information or access passwords, please contact us immediately on Customer Service 0 800 80 1234 (free of charge from any fixed or mobile phone network) or 021 200 9494 (standard rate number), available daily between 9:00 and 22:00. There is one type of virus that is spread by email. If you receive an email whose sender is unknown to you or seems suspicious, please delete it without opening or reading it.
2. Keep your personal information confidential
Never disclose personal information such as your date of birth, identification number, etc.
Such information can only be requested if you call the Customer Service on 0 800 80 1234 (free of charge from any fixed or mobile telephone network) or 021 200 9494 (standard rate number), available daily between 9:00 and 22:00 to activate the Internet Banking service.
The Garanti BBVA NEVER asks for your mother’s maiden name – just some of its letters. If you believe that someone has compromised the security of your personal data, please contact us as soon as possible on Customer Service 0 800 80 1234 (free of charge from any fixed or mobile phone network) or 021 200 9494 (standard rate number), available daily between 9:00 and 22:00.
3. Use hard-to-guess passwords
The first authentication in the Garanti BBVA Mobile Banking app is done using the same credentials as for Garanti BBVA Online (customer code, password, code generated by ciframatic). After activating the digital token at the first login, you will authenticate in the Garanti BBVA Mobile Banking application only by entering your password (you will no longer need to use the token hardware device in your possession to generate access codes or enter the customer number received from the bank in the corresponding field on the login screen). The digital token is the security/authentication process in the Garanti BBVA Mobile Banking application that involves the creation of a software token on the device used for access. This process involves linking the user’s Mobile Banking account to the mobile device being used and to the Garanti BBVA Mobile Banking app installed on that device and is activated when first logging into the Mobile Banking app. After activation, the app works in a similar way to a hardware token, using unique PINs for each login session.
